ATHAN IANNUCCI
Athan Iannucci is one of the most accomplished players, coaches, and prolific goal scorers in Hofstra University and National Lacrosse League (NLL) history, bringing more than two decades of elite playing and coaching experience to the game while helping shape the future of lacrosse in Texas.
Born and raised in British Columbia, Canada, Athan began playing box lacrosse at the age of eight before transitioning to field lacrosse at 15. Just a few years later, he earned a Division I scholarship to Hofstra University, where he quickly established himself as one of the nation’s premier offensive players.
During his collegiate career, Athan was named an NCAA All-American, led the nation in goals and points, set Hofstra’s single-season scoring record with 62 goals, earned two All-CAA selections, and was named CAA Playoff MVP while playing under legendary Head Coach John Danowski.
Following college, Athan played eight seasons professionally in the National Lacrosse League (NLL). In 2008, he made league history by scoring 71 goals, breaking Hall of Famer Gary Gait’s long-standing single-season scoring record of 61 goals. That same season, Athan was named an NLL All-Star and National Lacrosse League MVP, cementing his place among the greatest offensive players in league history.
After his professional playing career, Athan transitioned into coaching and program leadership. He served as Program Director at Eastside Catholic School in Washington for three years before spending two seasons coaching at The Episcopal School of Dallas, helping develop student-athletes within two of the country’s respected scholastic lacrosse programs.
Today, Athan serves as the Program Director and Head Coach of Aledo Lacrosse Club, where he is building one of Texas’ newest and fastest-growing lacrosse programs in one of the state’s fastest-growing communities. His vision is to create a complete player development pathway, providing opportunities for athletes from youth through high school while continuing to grow the game throughout North Texas.
Athan also serves as the Head Coach of the Dallas Stangs 2029 Club Team, one of the nation’s premier youth club programs. In just two years under his leadership, the Stangs 2029 have captured eight national tournament championships, consistently competing against many of the top club teams in the country.
With more than a decade of coaching experience in both Canada and the United States, Athan has coached hundreds of athletes at the youth, high school, and club levels. His coaching philosophy emphasizes elite skill development, lacrosse IQ, discipline, toughness, and character. Passionate about growing the game, Athan is committed to helping every player reach their full potential while building the confidence, leadership, and work ethic that extend far beyond the field.
